Community Arts Development

Today, it is at the local and municipal level where some of the most exciting challenges in the cultural sector are being met. More and more, cities and neighborhoods are delivering arts, culture and heritage programs. Increasingly, local organizations need expanded skills to compete in a fragmented marketplace, whether it’s an arts council, a community heritage site, or community theatres, choirs, orchestras and galleries.

Community Arts organizations are often managed completely by volunteers, and these groups require specific leadership and management skills.

Completion of a course will be recognized as either a pass or fail; awarding of a Certificate of Participation requires successful completion of all six courses.

This program is being delivered in a collaboration involving Humber College, the Oakville Arts Council and the Mississauga Arts Council, and the Town of Oakville.
